My take — it has more of a news site feel that a community site. The blogs are commissioned. The only way for students to interact with each other is through a forum.

It’s cool though that the (very) large Open University choose Drupal for their community site. OU is a distance learning university ala University of Phoenix and has around 180,000 students enrolled according to Wikipedia.
